Our summer sailing season runs from the 1st Sunday in October through until the end of April. The season may be extended into May if our racing program has been disrupted due to inclement weather or COVID restrictions. Race days are held on Sundays. Culminating in our presentation day in late May.

PYC now offers a winter sailing season with racing every second Sunday during winter from June till the end of August.

Our Club has casual Twilight Sailing on Thursdays evenings and Learn To Sail programs are always popular on weekends. We welcome sailors of all levels of experience, so come and enjoy sailing with us!

Sunday Racing

Our Summer Sunday racing program comprises of a number of series which run the full length of the season to encourage weekly participation. Race briefing is held in the clubroom at 12 noon and racing commences at 1300hours , with on-water starts. Two to three races are calendared for the afternoon and typically we are off the water around 1630hours. All are welcome to join in the comraderie of the club and rehash the afternoon of sailing in the clubroom afterwards.

The Winter Sunday racing program is held every second Sunday between June and the end of August. Briefing @ 1000hours and racing commences @ 1100hours with an anticipated finish time of 1400hours followed by a warm, hearty lunch in the clubroom.

Our regular racing program does not compete on Public Holiday weekends nor over the Christmas break to enable families to enjoy the chance to compete in various regattas held around Australia including at our Club. 

We encourage our Learn To Sail participants to join the afternoon racing with on-water support and supervision. This is a great way to develop confidence and to consolidate and build new skills with new-found friends.

Our fleet usually consists of, but are not limited to, the following classes:

Division 1: Catamarans, Arrows

Division 2: Lasers, Pacers, 125s

Division 3: Windsurfers

Division 4: Minnows, Optis, Zooms

Twilight Racing

Parkdale Yacht Club has brought back a tradition we have not seen for a couple of decades! Thursday Twilight Sailing Series.

On Thursday evenings during daylight savings, PYC will host a series of quick 5-10 minute races over the course of an hour from 5pm to 6pm. This series is open to all boat classes but is especially suited to our Windsurfer class due to the ease of rigging and launching.

Learn To Sail

We offer Junior Learn To Sail, Adult Learn To Sail and Learn To Windsurf training programs throughout our sailing season. Our training programs are well-structured and suited for the beginner-intermediate to introduce sailing in a fun, safe, accessible and affordable way.
