New Clubhouse
Dear Members
We have today received the Certificate of Occupancy for the new Clubhouse, which means that officially we can now use the new Clubhouse.
The state-of-the-art Clubhouse can accommodate up to 170 people, has an absolutely fantastic outlook, great (unmetered) parking and fantastic storage options downstairs.
Further, we are encouraged to make the building ours by showcasing our perpetual trophies, and hanging historic photos and memorabilia so that together the Clubhouse becomes first and foremost a Yacht Club for benefit of all our members.
Together with our 21 year lease we have a wonderful opportunity to both enjoy the facilities and grow our membership and hence participation in the wonderful sport of sailing.
Members are invited down this Sunday to see the new facilities and, weather permitting, sail from the Clubhouse.
I would like to thank City of Kingston, both Councillors and Officers, for all their efforts. And special thanks go to Mr Cameron Gregory, Project Manager for the new Clubhouse who has done a fantastic job.
The Official Opening of the new building is scheduled for 16th of May, with a likely commencement time of noon, although this has still to be finalised.
On a sad note, I would like to inform Members of the passing of Mr Graham Walker, a Founding and Life member, who passed away peacefully on 1st April 2021. Graham recently wrote a delightful letter to the Committee in which he expressed his excitement and joy at the new Clubhouse.
I look forward to seeing many of you this Sunday at our Yacht Club.
Best regards
Peter Monkhouse
