COVID restrictions update 
 

Hi All, this is the latest update from Australian Sailing....

Dear Club Officials,

The Victorian Government has announced that regional Victoria entered a lockdown on, Saturday 21 August.

All metropolitan Melbourne restrictions – excluding the curfew – will be implemented across regional Victoria until 11.59 pm Thursday, 2 September. 

This lockdown intends to restrict unnecessary movement to prevent the spread of the virus.

For regional Victoria, this means:

· There are only five reasons to leave home: to get the food and the supplies you need, to exercise for up to two hours (no more than 5km from your home), care or caregiving, authorised work or education if you can’t do it from home, or to get vaccinated at the nearest possible location.

· Face masks will still be mandatory outdoors and indoors (not at home) unless an exception applies – this includes all workplaces.

· To give the industry time to adjust, workforce permits will be required to leave the house for authorised work from 11.59 pm Monday 23 August. 

· Workforce limits apply to the construction industry from 1 pm today, and however, the industry will be engaged about safely reducing staff numbers as they secure sites.

· Playgrounds, basketball hoops, skate parks and outdoor exercise equipment will be closed.

· Masks will also not be able to be removed to drink alcoholic beverages.

· Exercise will be limited to just one other person, plus dependants if they cannot be left at home.

· People cannot have visitors to the home.

For Sailing This means that Club Organised Sailing can not continue. However, recreational Sailing is allowed.

Can I check if my boat is secure –

Yes, this should be incorporated into your 2hr exercise window. Where you live outside of your 5km radius, you should ask a family member/friend to check on your boat during this time and only attend if it is for emergency reasons that cannot be postponed. 

Boat maintenance and repairs –

Self-maintenance (by a non-authorised worker) and repairs should be postponed unless for emergency reasons.

Can I still go Sailing?

Boating (including Sailing) and Fishing is outdoor recreation permitted. However, within 5km, within 2 hrs, with a mask, with immediate family or one friend, and without requiring a closed venue to be opened (if you need a key to gain access, it cannot be used).

Can I access my club room to have a shower?

No club rooms are considered a facility and must not be opened. Come prepared and return home to have a shower.
