PYC splashed some pink around in March to fundraise for breast cancer research, with an impressive 12 hour sailing marathon being the star of the show and the silent auction going "live" on Sunday at our music session following close behind. Parky Goes Pink is a special event to raise funds to support breast cancer research.
This unique format includes a sailing window over a 12 hour period (10am-10pm) on Saturday 2nd March 2024 which will feature some night sailing.
The event is open to all off the beach classes of boats and boards from any Australian Sailing affiliated club.                                                                                                                                                                                              Sailors are challenged to sail the whole period or to form teams to allow for substitute sailors to take part at various intervals to complete the event.
The course will be set in close proximity to shore with safety support provided by Parkdale Yacht Club.
The challenge will be to complete as many laps as possible and to stay on the water for as much as the 12 hour period as possible.
Monies are raised through entry fees and personal sponsorship and sailors are encouraged to seek donations from businesses, friends and family.                                                                                                        In addition to on-water action, Parkdale Yacht Club will be hosting activities including a luncheon, trivia, auctions and entertainment over the weekend to allow broader participation and raise extra funds.
The aim of Parky Goes Pink is to showcase resilience and determination highlighting community spirit whilst supporting a cause with significant meaning to many.
The 2024 event will be the first of what will be an annual highlight on the Victorian sailing calendar.                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Get your team registered now and get sponsored!
