44th Windsurfer National Championships - Event Recap
The Battle on the Bay is now done! And wasn't it fun!
PYC hosted the largest and most spectacular windsurfing event in Australia. The Windsurfer Class returned to Victoria for the 44th National championships. Four days of competition featured course racing, slalom, marathon and freestyle. Open & Cruiser classes - there was something for everyone. What an exciting event this was at our fantastic venue, both on and off the water.
Congratulations to our PYC crew who podiumed at the regatta: Josh Baker, Hamish Berry, Nick Bez, Scott Buckingham, Isabella Grimshaw, Luke Meyers, Peter Monkhouse and Jude Smale!
Special mention to Jude Smale who was awarded the Windsurfer Class Youth Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to the best overall placed male and female under 18 years and provides financial assistance to attend Class World Championships. Also to Hamish Berry who placed first in the Marathon overall. Well done boys!
Congratulations to Nick Bez who was made a life member of the Windsurfer Class Association of Australia for his enormous contribution to the class.
We would especially like to thank all of our volunteers for making this event the success that it was!
